Waterfront Retreat - 2018 AILDM National Design Silver Award Winner
It's achievable to transform a small backyard like this into a place where celebrates colours and sculptural beauty of planting, embraces multiple senses and seasonal changes from the nature, enhances useful functions and various activities for relaxation, enjoyment, and entertainment. The yard was just barely lawn and a piece of paved seating area near the back door. Now a perfect spot to enjoy water view has been created. Fire pit, built-in hardwood bench seating, a couple of log seats on bluestone paving was all natural elements creating sense of intimacy, relaxation, and connection with surrounding riverside landscape. The planting scheme is beautiful, practical and sustainable at the same time. Succulents are not only architectural, hardy but also water wise and low maintenance required. Existing entertainment zone was upgraded with luxury but natural hardwood seating and table. An extra feature just nearby is koi fish pond also as a water feature to create more vibe for the overall atmosphere of waterfront property.
