Coastal Garden Transformation
Before Transformation
The original design brief was not very specifically for creating a particular style or a theme of a garden rather just problem solving and general enhancement of existing outdoor spaces around a house in coastal area. Pre-existing planting and garden bed was looked more like Christmas scheme - green foliage, upright, cone-shaped trees with red mulch. Large drainage pits take up much space in the backyard and create a lot of unusable space. Concrete pavers from paths and driveway already lost its original colour and start to develop moss and fungus between gaps only 2 years from it was originally constructed.
After Transformation
Overall, minimalism and architectural planting were introduced into entire outdoor space around the house. There are several reasons:
- Coastal Environment: windy, hot and dry weather - suitable for succulents. cacti as planting. Pebbles & gravel to match overall looking
- Colours and finishes of existing house: light colour scheme, rendered finishes of walls and fencing
- Young and growing family: low maintenance garden
